Steel canopy
Kent, United Kingdom
A roofed structure measuring 54x56x8.7m was erected at the border crossing between France and the United Kingdom in 2021. This large shelter serves to protect customs officers from the unpredictable coastal weather. The building’s structure is made of hot-dip galvanized steel, featuring an attic and a ceiling soffit to prevent birds from nesting. Construction had to be divided into two phases because the border crossing operates 24/7 year-round. For this reason, the building was designed as a two-aisle structure.
